President
of Board of Directors - Marcus Clinch
Marcus first joined the CST in 2001. He served as a Supervisor in 2003, 2006, and 2007; and a Director in 2005. A native of Nova Scotia, Marcus is a Canadian lawyer and works in Taipei as a foreign legal consultant. He is also Co-Chair of the European Chamber of Commerce Taipei Beverage Alcohol Committee. Marcus holds a B.A. from Mount Allison University, an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick, and an LL.M. in International Business Transactions form the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, and Mineral Law and Policy in Dundee, Scotland. He also served as a Maritime Surface Officer with the Canadian Navy.
Treasurer - David Kuo
David Kuo lived over 13 years in Montreal, Quebec where he learned his
French and English and earned both his B.COM and master in manufacturing
management degree from McGill University. David came back to Taiwan in
2000 and is currently working for Adexa Inc, a US supply chain management
software company. David and his lovely and caring wife are passionate
about and have been dedicated to reunite the Canadian alumni and David is
the president of McGill Taiwan alumni association (MTAA) since 2003. In
2005, MTAA collaborated with CST on the Canada D’eh 2005 event and invited
over 180 people to enjoy the spirit of celebration with the Canadian way.
In mid-2006, together with alumni association from UBC, SFU, UVic &
Waterloo and Canadian Education Centre (CEC), the Canadian Alumni Network
in Taiwan is created with objective to create a stronger Canadian alumni
presence and to promote the Canadian education in Taiwan through resource
sharing and collaboration.
Secretary - Brian Rusk
Brian has spent 6 years since 1999 in Taiwan as
a teacher. He initially became involved in the CST
by quietly sitting in the back of a dragon boat.
Eventually, he stepped up to coach and captained
the team in 2005, and took over the bulk of the
administration for the team in 2006. He is looking
forward to the call of, ¡§OO-BAY¡¨
this year, as well. As a director, Brian hopes to
offer his assistance in helping the CST meet the
needs of Canadians in Taiwan. He is originally from
Vancouver, Island and City.

- Pascale Dangoisse
Pascale Dangoisse is currently finishing her Master's degree in Communication at ChengChi University. She studied French literature and translation at McGill university in Montreal. She is fluent in English and French and is hoping to soon be fluent in Chinese as well. She has held many jobs before: cook, journalist, store manager and translator. This is her second year working with the Canadian Society in Taiwan and her third year living in Taiwan.

- Shawn McClelland
Shawn McClelland has called Taiwan home for over eleven years now, and splits his time here among a wide variety of interests and activities. He owns and continues to manage a small chain of English schools in Taipei and has utilized his experience in English education in writing a series of books for Oxford University for higher level ESL learners. Shawn was also one of the first foreigners working toward promoting and expanding the music and entertainment scene in Taiwan, and continues to be active in the industry through his involvement in several nightclubs and other international music events. He has parlayed the connections and experience gained in these fields to organize events for several local charities, including St. Anne's orphanage and The Garden of Hope, and looks forward to being even more involved in local charities through the Canadian Society.

- Marcus Maidment
Marcus comes from Merrickville Ontario which is located one hour west of Ottawa. He spent eight years as a social worker helping in school boards, group homes and institutions. He came to Taipei in 2001. Marcus has been teaching ESL for the past six years. He is a member of the Chinese International Hockey League and plays in local games and international tournaments. He started volunteering with the CSOT last may and was our stage manager for the 2007 Canada Day Beach Party.

- Courtney Donovan Smith
Courtney Donovan Smith is currently co-publisher
of the Compass Group of magazines and websites,
which include Taiwan Fun, Compass and FYI South.
He is also country director of GCT, a New York-based
company that specializes in online marketing. Born
in New Westminster, BC, he has lived in the US,
Taiwan and South Africa and now resides in Taichung.
He will be working with Noah on the CST's publication,
Maple Leaf.
Supervisor
- Kevin Dempsey
Kevin is originally from Toronto and has lived in
the USA, UK, Germany, Belgium, and China. He works
for the Test-Rite Group here in Taiwan and is a
past president of the Canadian Society.
Supervisor - Kim Fleming
Kim moved to Taiwan on June 1, 2005. He is the Assistant
General Manager of Manulife Financial in Taiwan.
Prior to that, he was located in the regional head
office of Manulife Financial in Hong Kong. In Canada,
Kim has lived in 4 different provinces, the last
being Alberta for an 18-year stretch. Throughout
his adult life Kim has been involved in volunteer
organizations inside his industry and outside, including
serving on the Hong Kong Canadian Club as a board
member (2004-5), as a Caravan Committee member at
the Calgary Stampede (2001's present), and the Maverick
Chuckwagon Society (2000 to present; founding member.
This is a group of 25 executives who raise funds
for Calgary-based children's charities and contribute
to the Calgary Stampede).
Supervisor - Pierre Loisel
Jr. (Pipi)
Born and raised in Taiwan, went on to Vancouver,
BC for his Engineering degree, Pierre has always
been close with the Canadian Society through his
father who founded the society. He helped organized
the 2005 Canada D'eh event, and he hopes to bring
the event back to baishawan beach again this year.
Pierre is now working for a company dedicated in
the development of IPP (Independent Power Producer)
projects around Taiwan, as the project manager for
the renewable energy sector.

- Vivian Liao
Vivian is citizen of Taiwan. After graduating from
high school here, she spent six years studying in
the United Kingdom. She spent the next six years
as head of education promotion at the British Council
in Taipei. She is now Manager of Canadian Education
Center Taiwan, which shares an office with the Canadian
Society. Vivian is looking forward to working more
closely with the CST and participating in future
