David Foster was born in Cape Town, South Africa
in 1979, and showed a
natural love for music at a very young age. He
began formal music training
in piano and guitar at the age of 8, and by the
time he had finished his
studies in economics at the University of Stellenbosch,
he had built up an
impressive following as a singer/songwriter.
David has been performing professionally for 6
years, during which he was
an officially selected artist for the South African
Music Week 3 years
running, the National Arts Festival as well as
the Oppikoppi and Splashy
Fen music festivals. As a songwriter he was the
winner of the Estern Cape
Chamber Choirs Songwriter’s Award.
In 2003, David released his debut album, entitled “Flat
to Round,” which
received much acclaim, and as an unexpected result
he was given the
opportunity to host a TV travel show called “Going
Nowhere Slowly.” This
show is being broadcast on SABC3 in South Africa
and on ITV in Great
Britian.
David recorded his second album (“LIVE!
And at home”) in March 2005,
shortly before coming to Taiwan later that year.
Since arriving in Taipei,
David has performed for the South African Liaison
Office during Freedom
Day celebration at the Grand Formosa Regent Hotel,
as well as for the
Taiwan (R.O.C.) Government at the Annual Fireworks
Festival. He will
depart from Taiwan in August 2007 to pursue performing
and recording
opportunities in North America. |
