Featured Benefit Provider: Mono Club/
CIHL |
The Canadian Society is pleased to introduce its latest benefit
provider:
MonoClub. Located just
south of the CKS
Memorial, MonoClub has been serving inline roller skaters in
Taipei for the
past decade. Owner Geoffrey Le Cren has also been an active
promoter of ice
hockey at various rinks around the island. Canadian Society
members can get 10% off all gear at MonoClub by presenting their
valid membership card.
The Chinese Taipei Ice Hockey
League – International (CIHL) is proud to announce
the launching of its third season. The league, headed by Commissioner
Rich Lee (Head of the Taipei Skating Association) and Vice-commissioner
Geoff Le Cren, seeks to bridge the ex-pat and Taiwanese communities
through the wonderful sport of ice hockey, as well as provide
a recreational league for both friendship and healthy competition.
All of us at the CIHL International are excited about the upcoming
season, and look to all members of the ex-pat community to join
us in this venture.
The season to come will hold many significant events, we are
expanding from last year’s four teams to six this year,
as of January, the league will be operating at the brand new,
state-of-the-art, Taipei Arena located at Dunhua and Nanjing,
and the league is also planning many hockey related events run
at sponsors located in the Taipei area. We are actively recruiting
players, sponsors, officials, and support staff (of course spectators
too!) and invite any interested parties to contact us at either
Mono Club (attn: Geoff
Le Cren) or CIHL (attn:
Dave Campbell).
Not in Taipei? No problem, our players are from all over the
island and the league is arranging bus transportation on game
days from the Taichung area. League fees for players are very
reasonable and we will be operating league play from November
to June. Player evaluations and a draft will take place on November
13th. Interested players will have access to equipment for the
evaluations if your gear is in Canada, collecting dust in a
relative’s basement.
In addition, The CIHL will also have shinny ice available for
any members who want to come out and improve their skills outside
of league play. Come join us in our love of this exhilarating
sport and meet a great group of guys and gals.
