Featured Benefit Provider: The Pig
|
What do you do if you find yourself in the family-friendly part
of Taipei known as Tienmu and you have a hankering for some
good old-fashioned fish and chips? Not to fret, just head on
down to The Pig, a great, relaxing little British-style pub
that offers an array of beers, good, affordable dishes and an
atmosphere that will take you right back to Blighty. In fact,
much of the interior design trappings and the great, red phone
booth by the door were shipped over special from England.
The establishment, part of a local chain, takes its name from
the fact that, way back before the renaissance, “pig”
was a word for “wine cask,” so while it doesn’t
mean to imply that you have to stuff yourself silly in the place,
the delicious fare will probably make you want to do so anyway.
In addition to the fish and chips, which come with a special
red-wine vinegar to bring out just the right flavour, the menu
includes favourites such as seafood Caesar salad and "Beer
Bites." So sit back, have a tuck, and enjoy the live music
or the game on the big screen.
